Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)

Last updated: July 2026 · ~4 min read
In short: Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a one-time code from an authenticator app on top of your password. It takes about two minutes to set up and significantly reduces the risk of account takeover.

Before you start

You'll need a smartphone with an authenticator app installed — for example Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password. No special Eventira role is required; every user can enable 2FA on their own account.

Steps

  1. Open Security settings

Click your profile icon → Account settings → Security.

Account Security settings page with a two-factor authentication section.
  2. Start 2FA setup

Click Enable two-factor authentication. Eventira will show a QR code and a manual setup key as a fallback.

  3. Scan the QR code

Open your authenticator app, choose Add account or Scan QR code, and point your camera at the code on screen. Enter the 6-digit code the app generates to confirm the pairing.

2FA setup screen showing a QR code and a field to enter the confirmation code.
  4. Save your backup codes

Eventira generates a set of one-time backup codes. Download or copy them somewhere safe (like a password manager) — you'll need one if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.

Heads up: If you lose both your device and your backup codes, you'll need to contact support to verify your identity and regain access.
Note: Owners and Admins can require 2FA for the whole organisation from Organisation settings → Security.
